Art Honor Society Welcomes New Members

Huntington High School’s Art Honor Society welcomed 32 new members during the organization’s annual induction ceremony in the auditorium.
The inductees include Alexa Mazure, Alexandra Boeckmann, Angeline Arreaga Vega, Ava McDonald, Belen Hernandez, Brittany Lopez Berrios, Charles Desrochers III, Christina Ray, Ella Ackerman, Ella Palatnek, Emily Redondo Guillen, Emma Meystrik, Eunice Lee, Harold Jimenez Nunez, Jasmine Adcock, Jaslyn Marroquin Chavez, Kalissa Simon, Kellee Benitez, Logan Apelsinov, Luis Orrego Salinas, Madelyn Falk, Marilyn Mendoza Virula, Mia Einemann, Michakaella Excellent-Mesidor, Olivia McGreevy, Ruby Baliber, Talia Hayden, Taylor Nappi, Townsel Henry, Veda Gross, Victoria Hart and Chelsey Olivo
The group is led by President Toni Reyes-Sorto, co-President Keysy Diaz Campos, Secretary Isabella Careccia-Johnson, Treasurer Juan Erazo Turcios and webmaster Anibella Fazin. Art teacher Jennifer Fazin serves as the faculty advisor.

Deputy Superintendent Christopher J. Hender and District Director of Fine and Performing Arts Kimberly Musial joined the festivities along with dozens of parents and family members.
Huge colorful slides were projected onto a screen descending from the ceiling over the stage with each slide highlighting artwork created by each respective new member. The slideshow also featured some of the good works and initiatives pursued by Huntington’s Art Honor Society chapter.
The purpose of the Art Honor Society is to inspire and recognize those students who have a profound love or art and demonstrate creative talent. Members work to promote art in the school, community and internationally through various activities and service projects. They help one another to achieve the highest standards and share the importance of art education throughout the district, the community and beyond.
The new members were asked to recite the NAHS pledge during the induction: “I will in my life, to the best of my ability through my talents in art, help create a more beautiful world for myself, for humankind, and for all living things.”
The district’s art faculty include Jennifer Fazin, Kristen Temporino, Todd Hiscox, Ayallah Jeddah, Nicholas Matarazzo, Jenna Merget, Kasmira Mohanty, Karen Morea, Pamela Piffard, Jackie Plesant, Jessica Simms, Kristin Singer, Heather Swan and Kim Valerio.
Refreshments and snacks were served in the auditorium lobby following the ceremony.
