Spring Driver Ed Program Has Openings

February 13, 2025

Huntington UFSD’s spring driver education program still has about 20 openings remaining. The seats are being offered on a first come, first served basis. The course will run from March 3 through May 1, 2025.

To register, visit Room 122 at the high school – the office of the district director of health, physical education and athletics. The program is open to any student who will be at least 16 years old by February 28 and who holds a valid learner’s permit, which must be presented the first day of class.

The registration fee is $650 for residents and $675 for non-residents. Checks should be made payable to: Huntington High School Driver Education Program.

Lecture classes will held on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. or 7:30-9:00 p.m. Students must attend both days of lecture.

In car driving will be conducted on either Monday and Wednesday (Groups 1-4) or Tuesday and Thursday (Groups 5-8) from 2:30-4:00 p.m. or 4:00-5:30 p.m.

Applications along with the program calendar and scheduling information are available on the Huntington UFSD website and in the athletic office.

Students are allowed to miss a maximum of one class. Once a student misses a second class, they will be dropped from the program and will be ineligible for a MV-285 course completion certificate. Classes cannot be made up once a new semester has started.

Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the program each day. No refunds will be provided once classes have begun.

To be eligible for a “blue card” a student must satisfactorily complete 24 hours of lecture and 24 hours in the car during the spring program.
