Washington’s Family Engagement Night an Artistic Delight

February 10, 2025

The Washington Primary School community likes nothing better than coming together and enjoying each other’s company. February’s Family Engagement Night was such an occasion and those of all ages enjoyed the time together.

Principal Michelle Richards is an artist, too.

“Washington celebrated our family’s culture through art,” Principal Michelle Richards said. “Families worked collaboratively to create a piece of art that reflects their family's culture/heritage.”

A variety of supplies were available for families to choose from to create their masterpiece. Following the activity, the families viewed of all the creations in the gymnasium.

“This opportunity allowed families to share their culture/heritage while learning about others as well,” Dr. Richards said. “Students went home with their creation to put on display in their home. The goal was to provide the families with an opportunity to communicate and work together to create a beautiful piece of art and a beautiful memory together. Many thanks to Washington’s resident artist, Nick Matarazzo for bringing the cultural fusion through art to life for our Washington families.”

The Washington PTA will meet on Wednesday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. The Washington Someone Special Social is set for Friday, February 14 at 6 p.m. The Washington Book Fair is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 13-14.
