The Blue Market & Blutique Continues to Thrive

February 10, 2025

The Blue Market & Blutique at Huntington High School continues to thrive. The initiative is a community-driven effort to provide essential resources to students, helping ensure they have the support they need to succeed in school.

Huntington students have helped the Blue Market & Blutique thrive

The Blue Market (food pantry) & Blutique (clothing and other personal items) was established to support Huntington High School families facing food insecurity and other needs. Organizers said the goal is to collect and distribute supplies, food and clothing to create a free, comprehensive resource for students.

The pantry and closet are student-run, with organization and stocking managed by student volunteers, teachers and support staff. Various student groups and community organizations host food drives to keep the pantry well-stocked.

To place orders, students can scan QR codes posted around the high school for digital requests or visit Room 117 to complete paper orders. Orders are typically filled within 1-2 days and can be picked up in Room 117 at the end of the school day.

Students are encouraged to visit Room 117 and speak with Ms. Carineh Mendez if they have any questions.

“Many have asked about donating,” Assistant Principal Trish Avelli said. “If you'd like to contribute, we’re always accepting items. Please click this link  to view a list of most-needed items. To arrange a donation, contact Ms. Mendez (631-673-2166) or Mrs. Avelli (631-673-2009).
