House Community Unity Day Coming to STEM School
February 7, 2025
House Community Unity Day is coming to Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School. This fun family event raised more than $1,500 for local charities last year. Students are hoping to raise even more monies in 2025.
At STEM, the House system supports character education throughout the year to make our school community a place where all our students feel welcome and valued,” Principal Donna Moro explained. “Now, that learning is about to expand beyond the school building.”
On February 27, students at STEM will gather with their House to learn about the importance and power of being of service to others and giving back to the local community. “At this meeting, our student council students will provide information about different charity organizations,” Ms. Moro said. After the meeting, each student will vote on the charity they would like their House to raise money for at this year’s Community Unity Day.”
Community Unity Day is a day when and where students and their families come together in a House competition that will benefit the chosen charities. “This year, Community Unity Day will take place on May 31,” Ms. Moro.
Each House will be assigned an activity allowing them to raise money for their charity. “The House that raises the most money will earn 5,000 points towards this year’s House competition,” Ms. Moro said. “Through this experience, students will gain valuable insights into teamwork, empathy and the impact of service. We hope all our families will join us in this service learning opportunity. Stay tuned for more details and get ready to be inspired!”
