Beauty And The Beast, Jr. on Stage this Weekend

February 6, 2025

Three days of sensational performances await crowds this weekend as actors and stagehands from Woodhull Intermediate School and Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School take the stage for the musical, “Beauty And the Beast Jr.” at Huntington High School

The Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School cast and crew will perform on Friday at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at 2 p.m. Woodhull School’s cast and crew will work their magic on Saturday at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door 30 minutes prior to each show for $12 each

The show is directed by drama club advisors and Huntington High School alums Jennifer Szilagy and Stephanie Shea. Rehearsals have been ongoing for weeks. The show has come together nicely and directors say that crowds will be impressed.

The show transcends three different schools; Woodhull, Jack Abrams STEM and Huntington High School. Students rehearse at their respective schools for several weeks before moving to the high school for two weeks of rehearsals to help translate what they’ve learned to the larger stage.

Chris DeVeau and Glenn DeVeau are the stage crew directors. Huntington High School students Emily Kustera, Maggie O’Toole, Sofia Rodriguez and Josie Sullivan are senior production assistants.

Huntington High School underclassmen Alex Boeckmann, Isaiah Bynum, Deveren Flynn and Karina Rodriguez are also serving as production assistants.

Faculty and staff production assistants include Liza Amin, Deb Caravetto, Jackie Caravetto, Karen Lombardo-Corwin, Luke Luckow and Nicole Secular.

The cast and crew of the two schools totals more than 200 students. The enchanting musical has been one of Disney’s most popular over the years. The cast and crew has really taken to the production with enthusiasm.

The two drama club advisors love what they are doing just as much as the kids. They are both Huntington alums and former members of the high school’s drama club program.
