Southdown Honors its Winter Stars

Southdown Primary School recognized several dozen students as its Stars of the Month for December and January. The youngsters were all thrilled to be honored for their work and efforts in and out of classrooms and all around the building.

Principal Jill Amott-Erwig took delight in announcing the names of the award recipients. “They are a magnificent group of boys and girls who all take pride in their daily work,” she said.

“They are working very hard with their teachers and classmates. The students were proud, indeed, to be recognized in a special way.”

December’s honorees included:

Universal pre-kindergarten: Victoria Pineda Oseguera, Danna Osorio Marquez

Kindergarten: Leylani Rivas Mojica, Tatiana Cruz, Zachary Distl

First grade: Ashley Valeriano Ponce, Emily Egan, Susan Dominguez Gonzalez, Grace Coby

Second grade: Julianna Avila Lopez, Cristianna Miranda, Cameran Kalmar, Anna Savatta; Third grade: Luis Ulloa Gonzales, Sulma Mayorga Vicente, Penny Rooney, Colin Engle

The January award recipients included:

Universal pre-kindergarten: Daphne Chen, Cameron Burke

Kindergarten: Kirra Cohen, Rachel Coreas Manueles, Noa Oliva Rubio

First grade: Nicole Martinez Villatoro, Valentina Morales Argueta, Madison Hood, Mia Ortiz Bonilla

Second grade: Mateo Rivera Lazo, Justin Velasquez, Charlotte Kirk, Henry Weston

Third grade: Abigail Egan, Wesley O’Dwyer, Andrew Romano, Mariana Lanza
