Jefferson Holiday Read Aloud Family Fun
December 4, 2025
Jefferson Primary School proudly hosted its Sixth Annual Holiday Read Aloud Family Engagement Event earlier this week, welcoming 165 family members to kick off the holiday season together.
The evening was led by multi-tiered system of supports reading teacher Lisa Sejarto, who embraced her festive role as Mrs. Claus and Jefferson’s library media specialist Julie Dooher, who joined the fun dressed as an elf.
“Children arrived in cozy pajamas, snuggling up with blankets and their favorite stuffed animals as they enjoyed the holiday stories,” Principal Valerie Capitulo-Saide said. “Families listened to engaging read alouds of ‘Hanukkah, Here I Come!’ by J. Steinberg and ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ by Dr. Seuss and participated in interactive games, including a lively Kahoot competition in which the students triumphed over the adults.”
Students, parents and family members all had fun interacting with one another. “A special thank you goes to Andrea Floro for transforming the gymnasium into a warm and festive space, and to our dedicated teachers who volunteered their time to sit alongside students, share books, and distribute milk, cookies, gifts, and family surveys,” Ms. Capitulo-Saide said. “We are also deeply grateful to our PTA for their generous donations, which helped make this cherished annual tradition a joyful experience for all.”
