Superintendent Welcomes Back Huntington UFSD for New Year

August 22, 2025

Superintendent Beth McCoy is anxious for the new school year to begin. Huntington UFSD’s educational leader since June 2024, she issued a welcome back letter for faculty and staff members expressing her high hopes for 2025/26.

July and August have been especially busy for officials as the district hires to fill vacancies, races to complete facilities related projects, engages in summer curriculum initiatives and hosts several academic and enrichment programs.

“I hope each of you found time this summer to rest, recharge and enjoy meaningful moments with family and friends,” Mrs. McCoy wrote. “As we prepare to begin a new school year, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our incredible custodial, maintenance, clerical, teacher and administrative teams. The dedication of all our personnel throughout the summer months has ensured that our buildings are not only ready, but shining inside and out, for the arrival of staff and students alike. Their behind the scenes work is deeply appreciated and vital to the success of our opening. Additionally, thank you to our faculty and staff who worked this summer on various projects and with our students, providing them with enrichment and fun.”

As the final coats of paint and polish are being applied to all eight school buildings in the district, Huntington UFSD welcomed back administrators for two days of meetings on Monday and Tuesday.

“Each September offers a moment to reset; a clean slate filled with promise and potential,” Mrs. McCoy wrote. “It is a time to reconnect with our purpose, to build strong relationships with students and families and to reaffirm our commitment to opportunity and academic excellence for all. What a remarkable privilege it is to do work that truly matters.”

Teachers will report to their buildings and classrooms next Wednesday and Thursday for meetings and training sessions and to review their class lists and organize materials for the first day of classes on Tuesday, September 2.

“As you step into this new school year, remember the incredible impact you have,” Mrs. McCoy said. “The lessons you teach, the compassion you show and the environment you foster will shape your students in ways that last far beyond this year.”

Teachers have been sent schedules for the two conference days next week. There will be faculty and department meetings across the district, too.

“May this year ignite your passion, strengthen your purpose, and remind you of the profound impact you have on every student you meet,” Mrs. McCoy wrote. “Together, let’s rise to the opportunity before us, to inspire; to lead and to make a lasting difference in the lives of the children and families of Huntington. The best is yet to come. I look forward to all that we will achievement together.”
