Blue Devils on Section XI Student Advisory Committee

August 18, 2025

There will be five Blue Devils on this year’s Section XI Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Seniors Jolie Weinschreider, Cameron Smith and Kymora Dorvilus, junior Ava McDonald and sophomore Kingsley J. Evans all submitted applications. The committee is being spearheaded by Center Moriches Director of Athletics Jeremy Thode.

The committee’s goal mirrors that of the New York State Public High School Athletic Assn.’s student advisory committee. That goal, to paraphrase, is “to dedicate efforts to promote safety, sportsmanship, leadership (in the classroom and athletic arena), and positive relationships with coaches, administrators and other student-athletes. We work to represent the perspective of all Section XI student-athletes by presenting their concerns to Section XI, thereby developing initiatives for future improvement of all member schools and communities.”

The Huntington UFSD student-athletes, like their counterparts across the county, committed to meeting twice a month virtually with other SAAC members.

The Huntington contingent was also asked to submit “the biggest issue or concern you would like to see addressed in Section XI and/or NYSPHSAA. They were requested to indicate their level of interest in “being involved in Section XI Leadership Conference planning committee. They were further asked to list topics they would like to have presented to leadership conference participants. Finally, they were requested to list “very successful coaches and/or student athletes that graduated from your school that you may want to have present at the leadership conference.”

All five Blue Devil athletes are concurrently serving on the Huntington Varsity Club’s executive board, with Ms. Smith as the organization’s president, Ms. Dorvilus as vice president, Ms. Weinschreider as secretary and Ms. McDonald as treasurer. Mr. Evans is an administrative assistant.
