Kyra Scott Presented Gooding Wellness Scholarship

August 1, 2025

Kyra Scott has been presented the third annual Gooding Wellness Group Aspiring Helper Scholarship. The Huntington High School Class of 2025 member plans to study nursing at the University of Connecticut.

Huntington alum Gordon Gooding, the founder and director of the Cold Spring Harbor based Gooding Wellness Group funded the award, which includes a $250 stipend.

An Advanced Placement Scholar and member of Huntington’s Tri-M Music Honor Society chapters, Ms. Scott will be attending Southern Connecticut State University. She has been a mainstay of the high school’s drama club, serving as a dance captain during musicals.

Ms. Scott made her four years at Huntington High School count. She served as the symphony orchestra president and was integrally involved in fall and spring stage productions. She has even worked as a freelance lighting technician at The Rainbow Stage in Heckscher Park.

“I’m studying neurological music therapy,” Ms. Scott said. “I hope to work with all age groups in an occupational and physical therapy office. I worked with autistic children all throughout high school and I’d love to continue doing so through music.”
