Henry Gerberg Goes 4-for-4 to Pace Blue Devil Batters

April 10, 2025

Henry Gerberg belted out four hits to lead a strong offensive display and Joey Perotti hurled two innings in relief to lift the Blue Devil varsity baseball team to a comeback victory over North Babylon this week, 10-8.

Gerberg (4-for-4), Presley Moss (3-for-4) and Jibreel Murtaza (2-for-3) helped power Huntington to victory in a league game. Blue Devil batters amassed 14 hits over the course of the afternoon.

North Babylon struck first, helped in part by a misplay by Huntington in the field. The Blue Devils tied the score in the bottom of the fourth inning on a single by Will Donaghy and a Bulldogs error.

North Babylon struck again in the fifth inning and took an 8-6 lead, but the Blue Devils quickly regrouped in the bottom half of the inning and went ahead again.

Moss started on the hill for Huntington, surrendering eight hits, walking six and striking out four over 4.2 innings on a bitterly cold and brutally windy day. Gerberg came on in relief and held the Bulldogs before giving way to Perotti.

Donaghy had a hit, two stolen bases and a pair of runs batted in. George Meuger and Perotti both drew a pair of walks. The Blue Devils stole five bases and also turned a double play in the field.

Huntington is coached by John Romano and Nick Matarazzo. The team is captained by Harry Uvena and Griffin Kanzer.
