SCOPE Summer Enrichment Program Returns with Twists
April 10, 2025
The SCOPE enrichment program returns this summer with some new twists!!! This year's program offers four one-week sessions for only $199 per week for students entering grades K-8.
Classes will be broken down by grade. The program runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Huntington High School and dates are as follows:
• Week 1- June 30- July 3*
• Week 2- July 7-11
• Week 3- July 14-18
• Week 4- July 21-15
*Week 1 is discounted to $160 due to the July 4 holiday.
Note: The Broadway By The Sea program runs the entire four weeks.
The new “Seashells & Sunsets Art with STEAM Adventures” program will be offered for grades K-3 and 4-8 this summer with each week having new and exciting projects.
“This year our theme is UNDER THE SEA and will feature ‘Summer Seashells & Sunsets with STEAM Adventures,’” program coordinator Nicole Lynch said. “Dive into the world of animals, beaches, and ocean life in this exciting one-week STEAM course where science, technology, engineering, art, and math come alive through ocean adventures!”
Each day, students will explore sea creatures, build sand habitats, design mini tide pools, and even create water inspired art. From learning how fish breathe underwater to discovering the secrets of coral reefs, this workshop is packed with hands-on projects that bring the wonders of marine life and beach ecosystems to life.
“Join us for a week of science and creativity, where the ocean is your classroom,” Mrs. Lynch said.
Also new this year is the Instrumental Music & Fine Arts Exploration program, which will allow students to spend the week immersed in both music and art and will run only during Week 3.
Students who play instruments already will continue to develop their music note reading as a group and with fun games. They will play music in unison as well as work on two-three part pieces in an ensemble setting. Students may also have the opportunity to work on NYSSMA solos to get a super-head start for the year.
Beginning instrumentalists who are just now signing up for an instrument or who are switching instruments, will have the opportunity to learn to play their instruments and get a head start for the fall. Students will learn to read notes and make a full sound, play music in unison in a group and learn what it's like to be a part of the band or orchestra!
Third graders signing up for instruments should sign up for their first choice instrument. Adjustments will be made once instrument assignments are completed. Third graders will be attending the Meet the Instruments program on Wednesday, April 23 in all primary buildings to see what Huntington UFSD’s instrumental program is all about.
“And always a crowd favorite is our Musical Theater program, which is “Broadway By The Sea” this year,” Mrs. Lynch said. “This year's program will run from Monday, June 30 through Friday, July 25 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and will culminate in a Broadway Jr. production with an under the sea theme. The show will be chosen once our theater teacher has met the group and will be either Moana, SpongeBob or Finding Nemo.”
