Huntington Garners 15 Hunting-Tony Award Nominations

The Huntington High School drama club and its actors have captured a staggering 15 Hunting-Tony Award nominations for its fall and spring stage productions of “Humbug” and “Chicago: Teen Edition.”
Hunting-Tony Award judges were in attendance at every high school drama club production in the town over the past year, forming the basis for the nominations and the ultimate honors in each category.
This year’s award recipients will be announced during a ceremony at the Paramount on Monday, June 3. The nominees will walk the red carpet outside the building at 6 p.m. The show kicks off at 7 p.m.
Huntington High School actors have fared well in previous years. Drama club faculty advisor Michael Schwendemann is excited to attend the ceremony with both casts.
Huntington’s nominees in the drama category include:
• Best Supporting Actor in a Play: Walter Lopez: “Humbug”
• Best Stage Crew for a Play: Huntington High School: “Humbug”
• Best Technical Production for a Play: Huntington High School: “Humbug”
• Best Lead Actress in a Play: Lily Tierney: “Humbug”
Huntington’s nominees in the musical category include:
• Best Scenery in a Musical: Huntington High School: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Orchestra Pit: Huntington High School: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Female Vocalist: Josie Sullivan: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Male Vocalist: Jack Semelsberger: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Technical Production for a Musical: Huntington High School: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Featured Actor in a Musical: Jake Amend: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Featured Actress in a Musical: Lily Wasoski: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Lead Actor in a Musical: Jack Semelsberger: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Lead Actress in a Musical: Josie Sullivan: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Ensemble in a Musical: Huntington High School: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
• Best Musical: Huntington High School: “Chicago: Teen Edition”
The nominees are expected to come decked out in their best. “This is their night to shine,” Mr. Schwendemann said. “Win or lose, it should be a night to remember.”
