Finley Boys’ Lacrosse Looks for Momentum

The J. Taylor Finley Middle School boys’ lacrosse team is looking to gain momentum and find its rhythm. The squad is coached by Travis Smith and Peter Novellano. It practices and plays its games on fields behind the school building.

This year’s roster consists of Greyson Banner, Benjamin Burke, Daniel Cabrera, Rhys Carillo, Charlie Cirlincione, Aiden Collins, Alexander Colonna, Cormac Driscoll, Kingsley Evans, Dylan Garcia, Christopher Granito, Christian Guandique, Leif Gundersen, Imre Hollosi, Shane LeGrow, Harrison MacIntrye, James Markotsis, Devon Maxwell, Charles Mendreski, Grady Mindich, Finn McDermott, Jack McLaughlin, Jordan Neufville-Quezada, William Olivia, Gus Panagacos, Trevellyan Peters, Martin Ramos, William Respass, Charles Rosselli, Jacob Ryder, Exequal Saravia, Zachary Smith, Spencer Sturges, Jose Walter and Sha’Quan Wilson.

Finley is the midst of playing a nine game schedule with home games against West Islip-Beach, East Northport, West Babylon, Commack and Stimson and away contests at Bay Shore, Northport, West Islip-Udall and Oldfield.

Last year’s 34 player team stayed competitive. It was captained by then eighth graders Colby Curran and Blake Bender. Strong defensive play was turned in by Ryan Water, Patrick Hassett and Jack Larsen and sharp goaltending by Blake Bender and Cormac Driscoll. Luke Lomler, Aidan Collins and Constantine Panagacos also contributed to the defensive effort.

Midfield playmakers included Colby Curran, Jude Creegan, Finn Driscoll, Kieran Warren, Charlie Cirlincione, Ricardo Berry, Edgar Castro, Grady Mindich, Spencer Sturges, Jose Walter, Dylan Michaelson, Christopher Granito and Benjamin Burke.

Finley’s attack was led by Gannon Johnson, Kingsley Evans, Justin Cahn, Jeremiah Miler, Charles Rosselli, Grayson Banner, Alex Colonna, Christian Guandique, Zachary Matthews, Trevellyan Peters and Sha’Quan Wilson.

This spring’s team features 18 players who are returning from the 2023 squad.
