Jane Callery Wins Senior Tennis MVP Award

Jane Callery capped off her Huntington High School tennis career by capturing the Most Valuable Player Award at the 56th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards ceremony earlier this month.

Huntington varsity girls’ tennis coach Jamie Fishlow presented Ms. Callery with the award before a crowd of 300 in the high school auditorium.

The teenager is headed to James Madison University in Virginia. Ms. Callery is interested in studying communication sciences and disorders.

The popular and highly regarded Ms. Callery owns one of the highest academic grade averages in the Class of 2024. She cites her time management and organizational skills along with an ability to advocate for herself at the keys to her success.

Captain of the Blue Devil tennis and golf teams, Ms. Callery was chosen by her classmates as a Natural Helper. She went about confidentially assisting those who were dealing with difficult and challenging personal and family issues.

A member of Huntington’s National Honor Society and English Honor Society chapters, Ms. Callery has consistently qualified for the high school’s High Honor Roll.

As a freshman, Ms. Callery and classmates and research partners Keira Coulter and Riley Murtagh collaborated on an informative and entertaining ten minute documentary focused on the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League that existed from 1943 to 1954. The National History Day contest project captured the Lee Allen History of Baseball Award.
