Huntington Superintendent Beth McCoy Embraces New Role

June 6, 2024

A new era in Huntington UFSD began on Tuesday morning with a new Superintendent of Schools in Beth M. McCoy. No stranger to the district, she served as the district’s assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for the past seven years.

Mrs. McCoy is joined at the central office by Deputy Superintendent Christopher Hender and Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Management Services Dr. Rubie Harris. A search is already underway for an assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

The district’s administrative corps rallied around the team at the top. Mr. Hender was promoted to the deputy superintendent post from his previous position of assistant superintendent for human resources and general administration at the same Monday night meeting.

“It has been an amazing experience to work with all of you in my role as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for the past seven years,” wrote Mrs. McCoy in a message to Huntington UFSD administrators. “We have accomplished so much with regard to expanding our programs and courses for students, providing new and exciting extracurricular opportunities, ensuring that all students and families feel welcomed and valued in our schools, and providing our teachers and staff with professional development and support to ensure success for all.”

Mrs. McCoy hit the ground running early Tuesday morning, diving into the work associated with her new position as well as continuing to tie up loose ends in the curriculum and instruction office. She is already out and about meeting with parents and students.

“I am truly looking forward to continuing the great work we are doing in my new role, as we continue to provide the best academic and social experiences and opportunities for our students while we prepare them to become global citizens in this ever-changing world,” Mrs. McCoy said. “We have an amazing team of teachers, administrators, and support staff and I am excited to see what the future holds for our dynamic school district as we work together as a unified team to provide enhanced opportunities and experiences for our students and families.”
