Chloe Hunt loves music. She especially enjoys singing and dancing. The Huntington High School senior has been in the district’s music program for many years, playing cello and performing with the choir. The teenager plans to study audio engineering and live entertainment at Temple University in Philadelphia.
“I chose Temple because of the reputation it has with music and the city of Philadelphia and the music scene,” Ms. Hunt said. “I love being in a city and having a campus that has a college feel, but also having the wonderful city to explore. Temple is very welcoming and has a beautiful campus. I have a great opportunity within my program.”
Ms. Hunt said her high school success can be attributed to believing in herself. She’s worked hard to earn top grades and gain acceptance to a well-known university. Recognized as a Distinguished Senior earlier this spring, the teenager said her efforts have been designed to provide her with an opportunity to live the life she wants in the future.
“I am majoring in audio engineering and live entertainment at Temple in the fall,” Ms. Hunt said. “I chose this path for myself as a career because I believe that it gives me the best of both worlds of being a musician on my own and actually learning every aspect of that and also learning the music business aspect and many different routes that I can go down, which is what my major and the program at Temple gives me.”
Highlights of high school include participating in the drama club, playing first chair cello and singing with the chamber choir. Ms. Hunt has notched a spot on the High Honor Roll and completed a credit bearing internship. This year, she was chosen to serve as a Natural Helper, assisting classmates who are dealing with family and personal issues.
“Overall, my experience at Huntington has had its ups and downs,” Ms. Hunt said. “It has taught me life lessons of being where I am and what I want to do with my future and who I want to be. It has helped me create a certain mindset for myself and let me flourish and really get to know myself as a person; as a student and now was an adult. And I have made some incredible friends and have had incredible teachers along the way.”
The teenager is looking forward to moving on with her life at Temple. “I hope to thrive and have fun,” Ms. Hunt said.
