Katherine Estrada-Morales Garners Appliance World Scholarship
July 17, 2024
Four-time Huntington High School Class of 2024 President Katherine Estrada-Morales is determined to pursue a career in computer science and she plans to start down the path toward accomplishing all of her goals at Farmingdale State College. The teenager is this year’s recipient of the Appliance World scholarship.
Appliance World of Huntington decided it wanted to “give something back” to the young people of the community, so it reached out to the Huntington School District and offered to present a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior with an exemplary record of service.
A member of five separate academic honor societies, Ms. Estrada-Morales said she owes her success to being able to hold herself accountable and mastering time management skills. She believes those same skills will serve her well as she moves forward in life.
Ms. Estrada-Morales has been a mainstay of the Blue Devil marching band, serving as a section leader. She’s performed an admirable amount of community service and her leadership skills are second to none.
The teenager said that making friends that feel like family, “endless opportunities” to find her “true self” and supportive teachers have all been among the most enjoyable aspects of the past four years.
Appliance World’s Zachary Lustberg was on hand in the Huntington High School for the formal presentation ceremony before a crowd of about 300.
A family owned business, Appliance World opened its doors in 1992. It is located at 414 New York Avenue in Huntington village. The company also has a store in Oyster Bay.
