Jordana Paniccia Captures PTA Heart of Huntington Award
July 8, 2024
Jordana Paniccia is this year’s recipient of the Huntington PTA Council’s Heart of Huntington Award. The Class of 2024 member is headed to the University of Connecticut to study nursing in the fall.
The Heart of Huntington Award is presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated the core values of the PTA, including school spirit, volunteerism, community involvement, commitment to academics and a willingness to act as a role model for their peers.
Inducted into six separate academic honor societies, Ms. Paniccia was named a Distinguished Senior last spring in recognition of her spectacular classroom performance. Captain of the varsity field hockey team, she was also integrally involved in the high school’s student government organization.
The teenager said the key to her success has been an ability to balance school work, clubs and a part-time job. Ms. Paniccia has always prioritized her school work before moving on to other activities. She’s made the most of every experience in athletics and the extracurricular club program.
The new alum said she made some of her best friendships through the Blue Devil athletic program and learning teamwork and trust.
Huntington UFSD has one of the longest and proudest traditions of any district in the country. For 100 years, the Parent Teacher Association, or PTA as it is widely known, has been an active partner with the educational professionals responsible for educating the tens of thousands of students who have moved through district classrooms.
