July 5, 2024
Landry Flynn is this year’s Outstanding Achievement in Creative Video Arts Award at Huntington High School. The Class of 2024 member was recognized during the senior academic awards ceremony in the auditorium. The award carried a $100 stipend.
Ms. Flynn plans to attend Penn State University where she intends to pursue an academic major in film. She was named a Distinguished Senior last spring after compiling a grade average in excess of 90 during every semester of high school.
The teenager credits her success to “the continuous support from family, friends and various teachers at the high school.” Ms. Flynn said she found the “most joy” through her participation in the high school’s drama club and its fall plays and spring musicals.
Ms. Flynn volunteered with Huntington High School’s Habitat for Humanity chapter and she enjoyed social events such as homecoming and the annual bonfire along with sports games.
Art teacher Kim Valerio made the formal presentation of the award. Ms. Flynn worked closely over the years with video arts teacher Heather Swan.
Ms. Flynn has also been a star of the stage with the drama club and even garnered a prestigious Hunting-Tony Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She’s flourished under drama club advisor Michael Schwendemann.
An Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor, Ms. Flynn is a National Honor Society member.
