Blue Devil Football Intramurals Begin

January 31, 2024

The Huntington High School football program is beginning preparations for its 101st season. Students currently enrolled in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in an intramural program.

These school sponsored sessions will include general conditioning and training along with an opportunity to learn more about the sport of football. Attendance at all sessions is not required. Students can participate when they find it convenient.

The program will be held on Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m.; Saturdays from 12 noon-1 p.m. and on Sundays from 3-4 p.m. Weather permitting, the intramural sessions will be held on the Blue Devil Stadium turf field. Should inclement weather prevent an outdoor session from being held, the intramural program could possibly move indoors to the gym.

For more information, send a message to Huntington football head coach Ron Wilson at rwilson@hufsd.edu.

Students who have not previously played on the Blue Devil football team are welcome to participate, too.

The Blue Devil junior varsity and varsity teams will play in Suffolk Division II next fall. The 14 teams have not yet been seeded and no schedules have been developed. Smithtown West and East Islip are moving into Division II from Division III.

The Huntington School Board has appointed the high school staff, which will include Wilson and varsity assistants Chris Taylor, Antoine Swain, Dareus Smith and Kevin Graham along with James C. Byrnes and James G. Byrnes, Jr. who will coach the JV. The Finley staff has not yet been finalized.
