Flower Hill Family Engagement Night Proves Valuable

Flower Hill Primary School’s Family Engagement drew a crowd of parents and students to the building for an evening filled with workshops tailored to parents’ interests.
“This special event was aimed to support our families in fostering the academic, social and emotional growth of our students,” Principal Cindy Siegel said. “These workshops were designed to provide valuable resources and strategies to assist families in supporting their child's development.”
Led by Flower Hill’s experienced staff, the workshops were interactive and informative. “It was a successful evening in which families connected, learned and grew together as a community,” Ms. Siegel said.
The crowd filed in for a 15 minute opening presentation that ran from 5:45-6:00 p.m. Everyone then fanned out for the 30 minute Session No. 1, which ran from 6:00-6:30 p.m. followed by Session No. 2, which ran from 6:35-7:05 p.m.
Presentations included Math-K/1: Developing Math Fluency and Number Sense; Reading 2/3: Fluency and Reading Comprehension; Technology: Empowering Parents in Coding and Technology; Social and Emotional Learning at Home: Executive Functioning and Assistive Technology for Communication; Fundamentos Familiares: Juntas Logramos exito en casa.
The evening wrapped up with a 10 minute closing that included an exit survey. Sixteen different Flower Hill faculty members participated in the evening.
Flower Hill is in the midst of another great year. The school opened in September 1954 and has been serving the community uninterrupted ever since.
Many events are on the calendar at the school for the coming weeks and months. The Flower Hill PTA will meet on Tuesday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m. The school’s PARP program is set to kick-off on Friday, March 1. Another Family Engagement Night is scheduled for Wednesday, March 13. Flower Hill Bingo Night is set for Thursday, March 14.
Flower Hill’s Talent Show will be held on Friday, May 3. The Flower Hill VIP Dance is scheduled for Friday, May 17.
The final month of the school year features Flower Hill’s Field Day on Thursday, June 6. The school’s moving up exercises will be held on Friday, June 21.
