Non-Public School Transportation Requests Due by April 1
January 5, 2024
The deadline for Huntington School District residents to request transportation of their children to a non-public school during the 2024/25 school year is April 1. Late requests will not be honored nor will any request seeking a change in transportation after April 1 that results in additional cost to the district, even if there is a change in schools.
Four forms showing proof of residency in the Huntington School District must be submitted at the registrar’s office for all new applications and/or changes from public to private schools.
Huntington’s transportation department strongly recommends that those filing after March 11 either hand-deliver the request form or return it via certified mail.
An original birth certificate must be submitted to the registrar for all kindergarten students. (Please do not mail birth certificates.) To be eligible for kindergarten, students must be five years old on or before December 1.
The Registration Office is located in the administrative wing of Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School with an entrance located at 50 Tower Street, Huntington Station, NY 11746. Hours are by appointment only. Call 673-2974 for information on registrar office hours.
Current district transportation policy is based on the following distances from school: Kindergarten through third grade: full transportation; grades 4-6: one-half mile from school or more; grades 7-12: one mile from school or more. The maximum distance a child will be transported is 15 miles.
