Washington Celebrates 100th Day of School

February 15, 2024

Washington Primary School injected a dose of fun into the lives of students with a 100th Day of School celebration, which carried with it an athletic theme this year. The festivities included dressing in favorite jerseys or even full uniforms covering a variety of sports and even cheerleading.

Students had fun with 100th day math activities.

“We’ve Had Our Heads in the Game for 100 Days!” was the slogan of the day. Classes engaged in 100th Day of School themed activities. Teacher Vivian Joseph’s third grade class brought in mystery bags filled with 100 objects. The students wrote three clues on their bags for other students to guess what was in each of the bags. After the students walked around the classroom making their guesses, there was a grand reveal.

In the run-up to the 100th day of the school year, Washington students participated in a cereal challenge. “The goal was to collect 100 boxes of cereal to donate to the Helping Hand Rescue Mission,” Principal Michelle Richards explained. “In all, 129 cereal boxes were collected.” The boxes were stacked in the gymnasium like dominos.

“The day concluded as we recognized Read Across America Day with ‘drop everything and read’ for the last 10 minutes of the school day,” Dr. Richards said. “Everyone paused for 10 minutes to engage in a school-wide D.E.A.R period.”
