Fourth Grade STEM Science Expo a Fun Night

The fourth grade Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School Science Expo was a fun night for students and family members who turned out to participate in a variety of hands-on science activities.

“Teachers set the stage with four different hands-on science investigations aimed at reinforcing key concepts in the fourth grade science curriculum,” said Donna Moro, principal of the school.

Students and parents rotated through four different activity stations, including:

1. Ball and Ramp: How does the release height of the ball affect the distance the cup travels?

2. Electrical Current: How does the type of material affect conductivity?

3. Friction: How does the type of surface affect the amount of friction of an object?

4. Liquid Density: How does the density of an object affect whether

“It was incredible for both parents and students to share in a learning experience together,” Ms. Moro said. “Parents enjoyed being invited into their child's class and the turnout was tremendous.”

Huntington UFSD students have always loved studying science. That’s been true for decades, if not for hundreds of years. After all, the first day of public education class was on February 11, 1657. That’s a long time ago, but the love of all things science continues today.

Mention the word “science” and Huntington students always get excited. This phenomenon has spanned the generations and is just as true today as it was during the earliest days of public education in the community.
