Cupid for the Cure Dance is Tonight

February 9, 2024

Tonight’s “Cupid for the Cure Dance” in the Huntington High School cafeteria from 6-9 p.m. promises to be fun for everyone. Organized by the Key Club and English Honor Society every student is invited to attend. Advance sale tickets are priced at $5 with tickets at the door going for $10.

Key Club co-faculty advisors Kelly Krycinski and Gina Colica have been working with students to plan the fun evening. All monies raised at the dance have been earmarked to benefit children battling cancer at Stony Brook Hospital.

Huntington winter sports teams will be participating by doing a competitive team dance routine to showcase their spirit and talent. The whole team can perform or just selected members. Several boys’ and girls’ squads are registered to perform.

The winning team will receive a prize from the Rachel's Dance for the Cure Foundation. The organization was founded by Huntington High School English teacher Aimee Antorino following the loss of her daughter, Rachel to leukemia in August 2018 when she was just 14 years old.

In her memory, Ms. Antorino created the foundation, Rachel’s Dance for the Cure to help relieve the financial burden placed on families of pediatric cancer patients. Visit www.rachelsdanceforthecure.org to learn more about the organization, which accepts donations year-round.

“We have several sports teams competing in a dance off; the United Amigos performing and Liva Camarata is opening the event with a vocal performance,” Ms. Krycinski said.

Huntington Robotics will also be making an appearance to launch t-shirts into the crowd.

The evening will be one to remember.
