Spotlight on Huntington Photographer Jillian Pascucci

In less than two years, Jillian Pascucci has already started to leave her mark at Huntington High School, where she has developed into an exceptional photographer while studying with art teacher Pamela Piffard-Williams. The teenager is exquisitely talented and very well-liked by fellow members of the Class of 2024.

A member of the Art Honor Society and secretary of the drama club’s stage crew, Ms. Pascucci has compiled an Honor Roll academic grade average and earned several awards for her outstanding classroom performance.

A member of the Blue Devil varsity bowling team and the high school’s Gender & Sexuality Alliance, the teenager plans to pursue a major in psychology at SUNY New Paltz.

After transferring into Huntington High School, the now senior has spread her wings and taken to flight, soaring across the sky with many impressive accomplishments.

Questions and Answers with Jillian Pascucci

Q: How old are you and what grade are you in?

Jillian Pascucci: “I am 18 years old and I’m a senior in Huntington High School.”

Q: How did you first get interested in photography?

Jillian Pascucci: “I was always interested in art and when I discovered photography classes in high school; capturing pictures of beautiful things and beautiful people sounded so fun to do. Photography sounded really fun and I enjoyed it a lot.”

Q: Where do you get your ideas?

Jillian Pascucci: “I get my ideas from inspiration from other people in my photo classes and from the internet to brainstorm ideas. I can recreate something in my own style of photography.”

Q: Is there any specific type of photography you like best?

Jillian Pascucci: “I do enjoy experimenting with different lighting, colors, etc. I like photos that tell a story through one picture. I like the concept of symbolism in my art and the same with my photography.”

Q: How has the Huntington photography program helped you with your love of photography?

Jillian Pascucci: “I came into Huntington my junior year of high school. My Intro to Photography class at my old high school during my sophomore year was fine, but I didn’t have as much love and fun for it that I expected. After entering Huntington, I was placed in Advanced Photography since my transcript said I took an earlier photo class. Originally I wasn’t going to go forward into photography at all, until I came into the Huntington School District and my photo teacher, Mrs. Piffard and the people in my class made me fall in love with the art of photography and build up my passion to continue it in Advanced Placement.”

Q: Do you plan to continue with photography or go to school for it?

Jillian Pascucci: “When I enter college, I do hope to continue photography at SUNY New Paltz through its photo club.

Q: Please tell me about your other accomplishments.

Jillian Pascucci: “I’m in the Art Honor Society and I’m secretary of stage crew. I’ve received a Pride Award in English and social studies. I’ve earned Honor Roll status and was part of the American Sign Language Honor Society at previous old school.”

Q: What clubs/activities/sports are you involved in?

Jillian Pascucci: “I am part of the stage crew, GSA, bowling and Art Honor Society.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Jillian Pascucci: “Majoring in psychology.”
