Blue Devils Try to Make it Three Straight Wins

The Huntington varsity boys’ basketball team quickly put a season opening loss at Rocky Point behind it, beating West Babylon (58-54) and Central Islip (65-38) at home. The Blue Devils host Babylon on Friday night at 6:15 p.m. as they try to make it three wins in a row.

Against West Babylon, Huntington jumped out to a 14-8 first quarter lead, which was extended to 33-19 by halftime. But the Eagles rallied in the second half, outscoring the Blue Devils, 35-25 to make the final score close.

Jordan Thorbourne led Huntington with 14 points. Shamell Spratley had 13 points, including four three-pointers. Nick Normoyle added 12 points and Justin D’Eloia had eight points. Shariff Penalo score six points, James Vohs dropped a three-pointer and Nick Plachta had two points.

Against Central Islip last Saturday afternoon, Huntington again jumped out to a big lead. The Blue Devils outscored the Musketeers in the first quarter, 24-10 and led at halftime by 38-15. Huntington continued to play well in the second half, outscoring Central Islip, 27-23 to close out the victory.

Thorbourne led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds. D’Eloia added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Spratley had 10 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Normoyle had six points and Penalo and Vohs both scored four points. Jermine Campbell, Thomas Kline, George Mueger, Jesse Perez, James Ruthkowski and Plachta all scored two points each.
