July and August have been especially busy as the district hires to fill vacancies, races to complete facilities related projects, engages in summer curriculum initiatives and hosts several academic and enrichment programs.

“We look forward to welcoming a wonderful group of new teachers and staff to join our team,” Mrs. McCoy said. “We know that our existing staff will be a tremendous resource to them as they begin their careers here in Huntington. Supporting the students and families in our district is why we are all here and we know that our new staff members will come to call this place home as those who work here already do.”

As the final coats of paint and polish are being applied to all eight school buildings in the district, the district welcomed back administrators for two days of meetings on Monday and Tuesday.

“This summer has been an extremely busy time for our administrative, custodial, grounds and clerical staff members,” Mrs. McCoy said. “All have been working diligently to ensure that our school buildings and classrooms are ready to welcome back our staff, students and families.”

Teachers will report to their buildings and classrooms next Wednesday and Thursday for meetings and training sessions and to review their class lists and organize materials for the first day of classes on Tuesday, September 3.

“September provides all of us with a new opportunity for a fresh start, new professional connections and growth, experiences that will shape our future and time to develop relationships and rapport with our students and families,” Mrs. McCoy said. “I ask that you take a moment to think about how amazing this opportunity truly is. You have chosen the profession that allows you to shape the lives of our students and foster their growth to become productive members of our society. Please remember this gift on September 3 as we open our doors to these amazing young people and view this as an opportunity for you and for them to have your most amazing year yet.”

Teachers have been sent schedules for the two conference days next week. There will be faculty and department meetings across the district.

“I look forward to welcoming you back on our upcoming Superintendent’s Conference Days as this new year brings an opportunity for all to take steps towards greater success in learning, growing and contributing to our wonderful school community,” Mrs. McCoy said

The superintendent wished the corps of faculty and staff members “a productive, collaborative and supportive year of learning and growing. We are on this journey together and I look forward to our continued collaboration as we support the students and families of Huntington.”
