Four Blue Devil Boys Lax Players Named All-State

August 12, 2024

The New York State Sportswriters Association has named four Huntington High School boys’ lacrosse players to the All-State team.

Blue Devil seniors Thomas Girimonti and Daniel McNulty and juniors Luca Cuozzo and Thomas Kline were all tapped for All-State honors by the NYSSWA.

Girimonti is headed to Wesleyan University to study economics. An Advanced Placement Scholar, he captained the Blue Devil basketball and lacrosse teams and served as president of the Varsity Club.

McNulty intends to pursue a degree in finance with a minor in accounting at Clemson University. He, too, was a well-rounded Blue Devil athlete and he also served as a lacrosse team captain. Remaining “diligent and focused in the classroom” has contributed to his success.

Girimonti notched 56 goals and 31 assists. McNulty tallied 38 goals and 30 assists. Cuozzo was Huntington’s spectacular faceoff specialist and Kline was the team’s splendid midfield, scoring 23 goals and adding 25 assists.

The NYSSWA will celebrate its 58th anniversary during the 2024/25 school year. “The biggest undertaking is weekly rankings and season-ending all-state selections in a variety of sports,” according to the organization. “The NYSSWA also has been known to play another role; the conscience for prep sports in New York. Beholden to no one because of its independent status and long reign as a reliable source of information, the NYSSWA has taken strong, influential stances over the years.”
