Washington Block Party Draws Largest Turnout in Years

September 25, 2024

The Washington Primary School PTA’s fall block party drew students and their families to the building last Friday night. The gorgeous weather enhanced the atmosphere and allowed students to have an enjoyable evening of fun, playing with each other while parents socialized.

Washington's fall block party drew a big crowd

One of the largest turnouts ever saw the youngsters making crowns, putting on temporary tattoos and playing with bubbles and chalk when they weren’t dancing to the DJ. Oh, and there was food and refreshments, too.

J. Taylor Finley Middle School Junior National Honor Society members volunteered to assist at the festivities, earning volunteer credit hours and facilitating many of the activities.

“The PTA will use any and all proceeds from the event to use in planning future events for our ‘Washington Winners’ and their families to enjoy,” Principal Michelle Richards said.

Students loved seeing Dr. Richards and the Washington teachers who came out to enjoy the party with them.

“Special thanks to Superintendent Beth McCoy for taking the time out of her busy schedule to come and be a part of our night,” Dr. Richards said. “Washington is looking forward to a great school year.”
