Senior Ben Soric Considers Himself Lucky
September 24, 2024
Huntington High School is known far and wide for its sensational fine and performing arts programs. Great students and teachers make it so and the community keeps expectations running high. Senior Ben Soric is one of the musicians that help keep the music program so highly regarded.
“I have always loved music,” Mr. Soric said. “I began playing the baritone back in fourth grade and loved it ever since. Throughout the years I have joined countess ensembles like wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, pit orchestra, and of course, marching band. Basically everything band related I have done at the high school. I intend to continue marching band and music ensembles in college.”
Mr. Soric has compiled a fine academic record and he’s developed many friendships throughout his time in Huntington UFSD. While exceling across all academic areas, he has gravitated toward his personal interests.
“I have always been fascinated by mathematics,” Mr. Soric said. “There has always been something so fun about the complex equations and how to solve problems. I decided I wanted to pursue mathematics in college. I’m not sure what exact direction I want to take with it, but I am excited to explore all the options in college.
Mr. Soric has helped the Blue Devil marching band win its first two competitions at Brentwood and Copiague. This is another big week for the organization with a Friday afternoon pep rally, Saturday morning parade, Saturday competition at Malverne and another competition on Sunday afternoon at Roslyn.
“I have had such a wonderful experience and am grateful I was able to be involved in many programs and activities,” Mr. Soric said. “I consider myself lucky I go to a high school with so many opportunities. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the support I received at Huntington High School.”
