The Huntington High School band’s historian has loved music for as long as she can remember. Danna Garcia is a bright, creative and motivated young woman who is working hard. She’s currently a big part of the Blue Devil marching band, helping the group capture first place in a competition at Brentwood last weekend.
“My interest in music started at a young age,” Ms. Garcia said. “I remember always wanting to learn how to play the trumpet and being fascinated by the different sounds and rhythms. Growing up, I started exploring different genres of music, discovering a love for everything from rock to alternative R&B. Music has always been a way for me to express myself and connect with others.”
Ms. Garcia is a high achiever academically and she is highly regarded by her classmates. “In the future I plan on attending either Syracuse University or John Jay College of Criminal Justice,” Ms. Garcia said. “I want to study biology and forensics. I also plan on becoming a forensic scientist.”
The teenager sets high goals for herself and she works very hard to realize them. But Ms. Garcia also puts a premium on what can best be described as the “high school experience.” She is exceedingly well-rounded and her gifts and talents extend into a variety of areas.
“My experience in high school has honestly been amazing and being in the marching band helps the overall experience,” Ms. Garcia said. “I have met many great friends throughout my years in Huntington High School. I’m still learning many new things and plan to make this another great year.”
