Huntington Highsteppers Ready to Perform on Saturday
September 18, 2024
The Huntington Highsteppers are ready to take the field. The high school’s competitive dance team will perform at halftime of Saturday afternoon’s varsity football game at Blue Devil Stadium.
The Highsteppers have been training for several months. They could be seen throughout the summer working on different aspects of their routine, refining their dance skills and working on becoming a “well-oiled machine” completely in sync with each other.
Huntington High School special education teacher Kristiana Salerno is the team’s dedicated faculty advisor. The Highsteppers will be performing at all varsity football games this fall as well as at the bonfire festival on Thursday, September 26 and the pep rally slated for Friday, September 27. The group plans to march in the Homecoming Day parade on Saturday, September 28 at 11:30 a.m. through the village.
This year’s roster of dancers includes freshman Sabrina Bijou, sophomore Gianna Brady, Addison Delfino, Chloe Donovan and Jordyn Gross (co-captain), juniors Kyra Larsen (captain) and Anna McCormick and seniors Rosie Arner (captain) and Alyssa Evans (captain).
The Highsteppers plan to compete in a slate of regional competitions in preparation for the Dance Team Union Nationals in February in Florida.
