Senior Sam Soric is Huntington’s Music Man
September 17, 2024
Sam Soric has really shined in every possible way at Huntington High School, where he has compiled an enviable academic record, captured All-State honors as a vocalist and played an important role with the Blue Devil marching band as one of its drum majors. But that’s just scratching the surface of the pursuits of this notable teenager who has earned the respect of his classmates and the building’s faculty corps.
“My passion for music and being a vocalist started becoming a reality my sophomore year as I started becoming more involved in the choral department,” Mr. Soric said. “And last year, I went to All-State at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, after receiving a score of 99 on my NYSSMA solo this year and last year. I have been chosen as an alternate for this year’s ensemble in December.”
Mr. Soric is a top student, too, exceling across every academic discipline. “As I start approaching deadlines for college applications, I plan on pursuing a double major in music business and vocal performance, with a minor in Italian, allowing me to gain experience and make connections in the music industry and grow my knowledge of the Italian language, which I recently received my Seal of Biliteracy for,” he said. “I hope to work for a record label and perform in my future and this major would hopefully allow these dreams to become a reality.”
The teenager is surrounded by friends and admirers on any given day. He’s a loyal and caring friend and a positive force around the high school building.
“I feel like my time at Huntington High School has so far allowed me to grow into my own person and find my true passion,” Mr. Soric said. “What I love about this district is that there are so many electives, clubs and extracurricular programs that let students find their own passions and introductions to the majors that students hope to pursue in their field of interest. I have personally learned so much here that I will soon be ready to move onto the next step.”
