The Huntington varsity boys’ golf team followed up on a season opening 9-0 win over Walt Whitman by defeating John H. Glenn, 8-1. The Blue Devils won both matches on their opponents’ home courses, the former at the Town of Oyster Bay facility and the latter at Crab Meadow in Northport.

Blue Devil golf star Chase Gadaire.

Huntington shot a combined low of 195 to overwhelm a skilled John H. Glenn squad. The match was highlighted by Blue Devil senior Chase Gadaire’s exceptional play. The teenager turned in a round of even par 36. “Chase’s performance included three consecutive birdies, a rarely seen feat,” head coach Michael Marinello said.

Huntington sophomore Jack Corcoran shot a 38 with seniors Will Fallon, George Mueger and Jake Severine all carding scores of 40. Sophomore Will Donaghy shot a very respectable 41.

“This victory was a total team effort and is a big confidence builder as we move forward,” Marinello said. Huntington is now 2-0 in Suffolk League II play.

Huntington practices and plays its home matches at the Huntington Crescent Club, where the Blue Devils have developed a wonderful relationship with club management and members.

Huntington has upcoming home and away league matches with Commack, Half Hollow Hills East and Half Hollow Hills West and return matches with both Walt Whitman and John H. Glenn in addition to a non-league contest at home against Islip.
