Josie Sullivan is looking to make her senior year at Huntington High School her best one ever. The dynamic actress and vocalist is immersed in what she loves most and surrounded by friends that mutually love and care about each other.
Ms. Sullivan got her start in Huntington UFSD as a kindergartener at Washington Primary School. She’s always been a top student academically and she was a promising swimmer on the Blue Devil varsity team before falling in love with the stage and drama club productions and the high school’s choral program. She has developed a wonderful relationship with drama club faculty advisor Michael Schwendemann and numerous other teachers.
“This year, I’m planning to continue my process of applying for colleges and finalize my decision for where I’d like to continue my education after high school,” Ms. Sullivan said. “I’m still planning on doing the school play and musical, as well as many other activities that I’m excited to finish out for my senior year.”
Ms. Sullivan said she hopes to attend college in either the New York City or Boston areas. “I would love to study music production/business and technology and learn to understand the inner workings of the music industry,” the senior said.
The teenager has always been a faculty favorite. Ms. Sullivan walks around with a sense of confidence and determination. “I have an immense amount of gratitude for my time spent at Huntington,” she said. “I have learned so many valuable things that I know will help me in the future as I continue on in life.”
Ms. Sullivan expects to take the stage for the Huntington High School drama club’s fall production and spring musical as well as continuing to sing with the choir program.
“I have had the privilege to work with Josie not only at Huntington High School, but at Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts,” Mr. Schwendemann said. “As I think back over the years we have spent together creating characters during the rehearsal process and in performance, her talent and work ethic has shined through in both her growth as a performer and a person. It has been my pleasure to watch her develop as an actress, a dancer, and a singer - always working to improve. She’s simply the best.”
The teenager is striving to finish high school on a high note. “I appreciate all of the teachers who have helped me get to where I am today, as well as the amazing friends I have made,” Ms. Sullivan said.
