Huntington School Board Names Blake Dunn District Clerk

Blake F. Dunn has been appointed the Huntington UFSD’s district clerk by the Huntington School Board, which took the action during a public meeting this past Monday night in the Adam Spector Auditorium at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School. Ms. Dunn’s appointment is effective September 14.
The school district clerk is appointed annually by the board of education and is an officer of the district. The district clerk serves as the clerk at all district meetings. Minutes of all meetings, including any votes taken, are recorded by the clerk. The district clerk also serves as clerk of the annual school district meeting and election held each year on the third Tuesday in May. Absentee ballot applications and ballots may be obtained in the district clerk’s office.
Ms. Dunn is assuming the position from longtime district clerk Joanne Miranda who is retiring from the post. Ms. Miranda has been appointed district clerk pro tem and will serve as needed up to 30 hours during the current school year.
Ms. Dunn obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in English at Ithaca University. A Huntington UFSD staff member since December 2015, she works fulltime at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School, managing and coordinating the main office and staff of the principal, including the school calendar, teacher and student schedules, payroll and purchasing and substitute coverage. She handles school mailings and correspondence.
Ms. Dunn has performed as a cellist with both the Northport Symphony Orchestra and the North Shore Symphony Orchestra.
