Huntington Golf Teams Tee Off for Season

The Huntington varsity and junior varsity boys’ golf teams teed off on Monday, August 26 and are ready to test their skills against a slate of Suffolk foes.

The Blue Devil varsity is coached by Michael Marinello while James Graber coaches the JV squad. Huntington is always pursuing what so far has been an elusive county title. But Marinello is always optimistic that this could be “the year.”

The varsity roster consists of sophomores Jack Corcoran, Will Donaghy and Brady LaCosta and seniors Anthony Addeo, Will Fallon, Chase Gadaire, George Mueger, Ryan Scanlon and Jake Severine.

Huntington has traditionally sent one of the best teams in Suffolk onto the course and Marinello hopes this season is no different. The Blue Devils’ home course is the Huntington Crescent Club.

The varsity has regular season home and away matches scheduled with Walt Whitman, John H. Glenn, Commack, Half Hollow Hills East and Half Hollow Hills West and a non-league meet against Islip.

The JV team’s roster features freshmen James Markotsis, Henry Schmid and Max Schmitz; sophomores Reed Cummiskey, Graham Gooch, Gannon Johnson, Luke Lomler, Brendan McNulty, Joseph Perotti and Jackson Poli; juniors Walter Lopez, Thomas Nicotra, Evan Persampire, Ronan Sosnowski and John Stair; and senior Ryan Scanlon. The Huntington JV plays its home matches at Sunken Meadow State Park.

The Huntington JV has home and away matches against Half Hollow Hills East, Northport, Half Hollow Hills West, Harborfields, Deer Park and Hauppauge and single matches against Commack, Smithtown East and Smithtown West.
