Woodhull Strives for Positive & Inclusive Environment
October 28 , 2024
The Woodhull Intermediate School community was especially busy throughout October, which was designated as National Bullying Awareness Month. Woodhull students, teachers and staff came together to spread kindness and inclusivity in several meaningful ways.
“On Unity Day, our students and staff proudly wore orange and created a kindness chain, symbolizing our commitment to support one another,” Woodhull Principal Stephanie Campbell said. “This powerful day reminded us of the importance of standing together against bullying and promoting kindness within our school community. Students engaged in various activities that fostered teamwork and empathy, reinforcing the idea that each person can make a difference. The vibrant display of orange not only showcased our solidarity but also sparked important conversations about inclusivity and respect.”
A few days later, the Learners Who LEAD program took center stage. “We were honored to welcome Huntington’s Suffolk Police School Resource Officers Brittany Ciaramitaro and Robert Jinks,” Ms. Campbell said. “As part of their presentation, the officers explored the impacts of bullying on students and the school community, offering guidance on how to intervene and report concerns. They also educated sixth graders on safe technology use and responsible digital citizenship, encouraging them to be proactive leaders in promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment at Woodhull and beyond.”
Teachers said the events reinforced Woodhull’s dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment. “We will continue to work together to make Woodhull a place where everyone feels valued and safe,” Ms. Campbell said.
