Sophie Carlson goes about her daily routine with a smile on her face. The Huntington High School senior is a kind and considerate soul and a compassionate one, too. She plays on three different varsity athletic teams and volunteers with several club organizations.
The senior is True Blue Huntington. She loves the place. Ms. Carlson’s earliest days in Huntington UFSD were spent at Southdown Primary School. She’s a happy, confident and talented young woman is has quietly made her mark at the high school where she is a valued and respected classmate and teammate.
The teenager stays busy with school activities. “I’m looking forward to my senior seasons of varsity soccer basketball and lacrosse and I plan on staying involved in Natural Helpers, Key Club and Habitat for Humanity,” Ms. Carlson said.
The senior is the treasurer of the Varsity Club, which oversees the individual team fundraising accounts and serves as a liaison between the athletic department and athletes. Ms. Carlson and her fellow Varsity Club executive board members offer ideas to improve the athletic program and provide feedback on department initiatives.
“I’m not sure where I want to go to college yet, but I’m looking for more of a big school atmosphere,” Ms. Carlson said. “I plan on majoring in either business or communications. I am looking to go into marketing.”
Ms. Carlson has a great sense of humor and her smile, laugh and sincerity is disarming. Classmates and teachers consider her to be a sweet and good natured young woman. Her academic record speaks for itself.
“My experience at Huntington has been nothing but positive,” Ms. Carlson said. “I love being a part of the sports teams and making great connections with my teammates.”
