Huntington Trustees Honor Advanced Placement Scholars

Dozens of high performing Huntington High School students were honored at the Huntington School Board’s public meeting on Monday night at the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School auditorium.

The students have excelled in the Advanced Placement course program offered at the high school. Every fall, the AP program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP Exams.

Huntington School Board President Xavier Palacios, Vice President Michele Kustera, trustees Kelly Donovan, Bill Dwyer, Thomas Galvin, Annie Michaelian and Theresa Sullivan were joined by Superintendent Beth McCoy, Deputy Superintendent Christopher Hender and Assistant Superintendents Dr. Rubie Harris and Brenden Cusack in offering the teenager scholars congratulations on a job well done.

AP Scholar Awards come in different levels and types, including:

• AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.

• AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

• AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
