Fall Athletic Season Participants Total Over 500 Students

There are more than 500 Huntington UFSD students in grades 7-12 participating in the fall athletic program. The district is sponsoring 17 high school teams and nine squads at J. Taylor Finley Middle School.

At Huntington High School, there are 166 boys spread across four varsity and three junior varsity teams. There are 150 girls on the rosters of seven varsity and three JV squads for a total of 316 high school students participating in the fall season for the Blue Devils.

At Finley, there are 116 boys on four teams and 87 girls on five different teams for a total of 203 seventh and eighth graders participating.

Total fall season participation for grades 7-12 numbers 282 boys on 11 teams and 237 girls on 15 teams for a grand total of 519 students on 26 teams.

The winter season will feature 11 varsity, three JV and eight middle school teams, including:

Varsity: Boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, boys’ indoor track and field, girls’ indoor track and field, boys’ fencing, girls’ fencing, boys’ wrestling, co-ed bowling, co-ed Unified bowling, boys’ swimming and diving, girls’ wrestling

Junior Varsity: Boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, wrestling

Finley: Winter Season No. 1: Boys’ basketball (two teams), girls’ volleyball (two teams)

Finley: Winter Season No. 2: Girls’ basketball (two teams), wrestling; boys’ volleyball

The first of two winter seasons at Finley will begin on Monday, November 4. The second winter season at Finley starts on Monday, January 13. The high school winter season will begin on Monday, November 18.
