Huntington Student Music Leadership Set

October 8, 2024

Huntington High School’s student musicians are all hoping for a spectacular year of personal growth and exceptional individual and group performances. Inside the building’s walls are some of the most exceptional young talents on Long Island, if not the state.

Huntington’s music program is steeped in tradition. It started to take shape in the 1920s and came into much clearer focus in the 1930s, when the Blue Devil band was created by James Cloyd Doty. The 1950s and 1960s saw explosive growth in the program, which steadily gained a nationwide reputation for its comprehensive nature and spectacular musicians and vocalists. A chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society was added in the 1990s.

The current year’s student leadership for the high school’s music groups includes:

Tri-M Music Honor Society: Josephine Sullivan (president), Lily Wasoski (vice president), Rachel Huth (treasurer), Liva Camarata (secretary) and Nina Fascilla (historian/social media)

Blue Devil Marching Band: Samuel Soric, Lily Wasoski and Dana Saramago are the drum majors

Huntington High School Orchestra: Kyra Scott (president), Deandre Simmons (vice president), Anne Tyrrell (treasurer), Toni Reyes (secretary), Josephine Sullivan (historian/social media) and Rachel Huth (librarian)

Huntington High School Choir: Liva Camarata (president), Samuel Soric (vice president), Rachel Huth (treasurer), Emily Kustera (secretary) and Alexa Schirripa (historian/social media coordinator)
