Junior Kiera McGuire Eyes Career as Forensic Psychologist
November 19 , 2024
Kiera McGuire is one of Huntington’s best. The junior was recently inducted into high school’s National Science Honor Society chapter, but that barely scratches the surface of her interests and accomplishments.
A kind, gentle and compassionate young woman, Ms. McGuire spends many hours of her life helping others. Witness her participation on the Blue Devil varsity Unified basketball team. She volunteers with the high school’s Habitat for Humanity and Interact clubs and is also a proud member of the environmental club.
The teenager came to Huntington UFSD as a third grader and attended Jefferson Primary School. This fall she ran on the Blue Devil girls’ cross country team and contributed to the squad’s year-over-year improvement.
A strong student academically, Ms. McGuire said she “loves that with science/STEM you are allowed to have an element of creativity while also learned about new concepts and ideas that you didn’t know about.”
The junior is interested in a career as a forensic psychologist. She intends to visit several colleges in the spring. Ms. McGuire is well on her way to compiling a sterling academic record, which will put her in the proverbial “driver’s seat” when it comes to picking a college.
“My overall experience at Huntington High School has been a very good one,” Ms. McGuire said. “My teachers throughout my first two years have help shape the person I have become and have truly inspired me. The clubs and sports I have participated in have made me lifelong friends and I am grateful for everything I have been able to experience.”
