Finley’s Hennie England Wins First Place at Art Show

Talented J. Taylor Finley Middle School student-artists were celebrated last weekend at the reception for the 3rd Annual Middle & High School Student Artists Juried Show at The Atelier at Flowerfield in St. James.
The Finley student-artists featured at the exhibit include Mea Andream Grace Bartasi, Ava Bencivenga, Caleigh Camarata, Rhys Carrillo, Millicent Ciccotto, Sophia Curley, Deisy Dominguez Torres, Bella Duke, Hennie England, Violetta Fox, Mia Gulino, Julia Hotine, Iliana Jarmolowski, Ashlin Perez, Sara Persampire, Campbell Proctor, Karina Rodriguez and Jose Serpas Gonzalez. All 19 Finley students are enrolled in Studio Art with art teacher Jessica Simms
Ms. England captured first place in the middle school age category for her 6x8 inch watercolor titled “Mt. Good Canada.” The 13 year old was given a free four week session of her choosing at The Atelier’s summer camp, a ribbon and a $50 cash prize.
The exhibition at The Atelier at Flowerfield encouraged the work of middle and high school student artists in all visual arts except photography and video. It was held in The Atelier’s 2,000 square foot gallery, which functions both as a professional studio space and exhibition area. The gallery is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no charge to enter.
