Thousands of Dollars in Scholarships Available to Huntington Seniors

Huntington High School seniors continue to apply for dozens of scholarships available to Long Island Class of 2024 members. Tens of thousands of dollars in awards are being offered. Deadlines are already approaching for some of the scholarships.
Most Huntington seniors are still waiting to hear from the respective college of their choice. By the end of the process, the Class of 2024 members are expected to tally at least $15 million in scholarships and awards.
Scholarships of the week include:
Virginia W. Smith Scholarship of $2,500 is available to one Long Island senior who plans to further his/her education by majoring in horticulture, environment, or conservation studies. An interview is required. Students can access the application at http://ncgc.org by clicking on Scholarship. Deadline is June 1.
The Dreams for Youth scholarship program provides financial support so Long Island youth can pursue their dreams and aspirations. Their enrichment scholarship ranging from $100 to $2,500 is available to students in grades 7-12 and assists with costs associated with activities that enrich mind, body, and spirit. Examples may include music, singing, dance, art lessons, computer graphics training, acting, photography, fashion design and specialized summer camps, etc. Funds may be used for enrollment fees and/or supplies.Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to community service. Long Island Authors Group, Inc. is offering all students a prize of up to $500 if they place in an Essay Challenge based on Long Island. Interested student can learn more here. Deadline is April 4.
Perry Como Lodge will award two $1,000 scholarships to seniors of Italian- American ancestry who will enroll in a four-year college or university in the fall. Students must be able to attend the Annual Scholarship Awards Night on June 8th. A transcript, two letters of recommendation, list of activities, and essay are required. The Rea Jacobs Scholarship for Dance is a competitive scholarship for Nassau and Suffolk High School Graduating Seniors who are pursuing a four year college degree with a major or minor in Dance. One award of $1000 will be given in 2023 to a male or female student. The scholarship is funded by the Long Island Dance Consortium and the Jacobs Family. The Robert Keleher Private Foundation provides scholarships to students from the community of Long Island in remembrance of Robert Keleher, a successful businessman and entrepreneur. Scholarship criteria includes GPA, community service, extra- curricular activities, letters of recommendation, financial need, and future academic interest. Applications are available here. Deadline is April 30.
Sandi Bloomberg Scholarship for Dance will award one Long Island senior a $1,000 scholarship for continuing the study of dance in college.
