March 4, 2024

Call it Blue Devil Madness. Next Friday afternoon’s 3 vs. 3 co-ed basketball tournament at Huntington High School’s Louis D. Giani Gymnasium promises to be a fun event.

The varsity girls’ basketball team is coordinating the tournament, which is set for this Friday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m. Co-ed teams consisting of a maximum of five players can register by scanning the QR code on the flyer posted on the district website and hung around the high school or by clicking on this link:

Teams are open to all students in grades 9-12. Teacher teams are also encouraged. Six half court games of seven minutes running time in length will be played simultaneously. Team members must wear the same color shirts. Snacks and refreshments will be sold in the gym lobby.

Here are some details related to the tournament:

• Team captains need to register their teams.

• Payment of $20 per team must be made in cash at the door.

• If fouled or when the ball goes out of bounds, the ball comes back to the top of the key to start again.

• Winners out.

• Baskets are worth one point. If a shot is made from behind the three point line, it scores two points.

• Overtime is one minute long. Double overtime will be settled by a coin flip.

• Every player on a team must appear during each seven minute game.

• The winning team will be awarded a gift card.

Proceeds from the tournament will be used by the varsity girls’ basketball team for off-season training.
