Finley Artists Exhibiting Work at Flowerfield

March 1, 2024

A large group of talented J. Taylor Finley Middle School students have had artwork chosen for exhibit at the 3rd Annual Middle & High School Student Artists Juried Show at The Atelier at Flowerfield in St. James.

A gorgeous charcoal drawing by Finley's Caleigh Camarata is among the art on display.

The Finley student-artists include Mea Andrea, Grace Bartasi, Ava Bencivenga, Caleigh Camarata, Rhys Carrillo, Millicent Ciccotto, Sophia Curley, Deisy Dominguez Torres, Bella Duke, Hennie England, Violetta Fox, Mia Gulino, Julia Hotine, Iliana Jarmolowski, Ashlin Perez, Sara Persampire, Campbell Proctor, Karina Rodriguez and Jose Serpas Gonzalez.

“Nineteen of my eighth grade Studio Art students who applied had at least one piece of submitted artwork,” Finley art teacher Jessica Simms said.

Ms. Simms obtained an undergraduate degree at Stony Brook University in studio art in 2018 and a Master of Arts degree at Adelphi University in art education in 2021.

The exhibition at The Atelier at Flowerfield encourages the work of middle and high school student artists in all visual arts except photography and video. It is being held in The Atelier’s 2,000 square foot gallery, which functions both as a professional studio space and exhibition area. The gallery is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no charge to enter.

The artwork will be on display through March 29. A reception will be held on Saturday, March 23 from 12-2 p.m. Ms. Simms and many of the Finley artists are expected to attend the festivities.
